Everyone should read- it makes you smarter!

You should not be surprised to know that my favorite Christmas book is “The Night Before Christmas”. It makes me smile and remember why I’ve done this for so long.  There are many, many versions of this classic but this is my favorite!

“A Visit from St. Nicholas“, which most people know as “The Night Before Christmas” and “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” from its first line, is a poem that was first published in 1823 but no one knew who wrote it. Later a man name Clement Clarke Moore said he was the author but that wasn’t until 1837.  Other people say a man named Henry Livingston Jr wrote it. I don’t know who the real author was but it makes me smile whenever I read or hear it.

The poem has been called “the best-known verses ever written by an American” and is largely responsible for some of the conceptions of me from the mid-nineteenth century to today. Many people took the joy of the poem and it helped increase the idea of Christmas gift-giving. “A Visit from St. Nicholas” eventually was set to music and has been recorded by many artists.
